Cardew: from England to Spain Welcome you to the home and workshop of Seth Cardew located in the heart of what guide books refer to as “ El-Cid country”, the non-touristic mountainous area that rises behind the coastal plain of the Mediterranean Sea in eastern Spain. A few years ago the Cardew Pottery was relocated from Wenford Bridge, England to this remarkable region where life happens at a relaxed tempo and shepards still herd goats and sheep among ancient olive groves. Seth may have been looking for better light as was his father, Michael Cardew when he relocated his pottery a generation earlier from Winchombe to Cornwall, or perhaps he was just searching for more light! Whatever the reason, light does abound, as does the sea, the fabulous food, the fiestas; all the exciting, enchanting facets of Spanish life. In this idyllic setting, Masia Albadas, population 12, Seth keeps his hands in clay or on bronze, producing works of art, welcoming friends and offering a selection of superb courses. The courses are designed not only to assist students develop or further perfect skills in an agreeable environment but also to offer a true Spanish and Mediterranean experience. Housing, food, outings; each is designed to enhance your experience.
