HOLIDAY COTTAGE TO RENT

The casa at the Pottery is available for rent whenever not in use for students during course weeks. It is an immensely charming ancient “masia” house which has been tastefully restored preserving original details while updating both the kitchen and bathrooms to the expectations of contemporary comfort. The floors are all terra cotta design ceramic tiles and the ceilings have original beams. Windows have interior shutters.

The house is totally furnished and the kitchen well equipped. There is a laundry area with washing machine provided. If you wish, bed linens and towels can be provided for a nominal fee.

The ground floor consists of living room with wood burner, dining area, kitchen, laundry area and half bath.

Upstairs are four bedrooms and shower room (shower, lavatory, bidet and sink). Two of the bedrooms have double beds, there is one twin room with two single beds and the fourth bedroom is a single.

The patio with outside furniture overlooks Spanish countryside, with almond and olive groves against a mountain backdrop. To the left a few steps is a large roofed stone well and then the pottery.

Utilities are included in the rental price.

For ceramic enthusiasts, there is the possibility of pottery lessons by the day or the option of renting studio space in the pottery.

Shops and restaurants abound in local villages 5 to 10 minutes drive over paved roads. Area fiestas are frequent and boast amusements from eats and fireworks to running with the bulls. Take care! The indescribable beauty of the countryside and sunsets is challenged only by the lure of sands and clear blue waters of the Mediterranean …. 35 minutes down the mountain.  There is also a wonderful local pool (see photo below) less than five minutes by car from the cottage.

Concerning the area: In these mountains running along the Mediterranean Sea (map), you find places where real Spain remains. The area is dotted with small villages, each with its own church where choirs sing unaccompanied as they have for centuries, and each village boasts an open market where vendors barter their wares on the appointed day of the week, each week of the year. Normally, the vegetables have been harvested that morning and the fruit is so ripe it needs to eaten that very day. Produce changes with the seasons, but you also buy your clothes, pillows and sheets, mechanics’ tools, paella pans, live roosters, lingerie and any number of other necessary items through every season. Between and among the villages, hills are decorated with smaller communities or masias. Shepherds still tend their flocks which wander daily among terraces of olive and almond groves where farmers lovingly prune and trim trees by hand. One especially nice masia, named Albadas, population 18 at the last census, is the spot where you will find this charming Spanish house.
